2012 SPEEDWAY CALENDAR

Looking forward to many exciting races to take place at the Millenium stadium:

Speedway club Unia

Speedway is one of the most exciting motorcycle sports. The race consists of 20 rides in which 4 riders compete against each other. There are 4 laps to ride, and the winner is the one who first passes through finish, getting 3 points.
Second placed rider gets 2 points, third placed 1 point, and the last rider gets 0 points. They race around oval circuit lenght up to 400 m on background made of shale. There are no two equal speedway tracks in the world which contributes to attractiveness of this sport. Motorcycles are very specific – motor fuel is methanol. They don't have brakes, gears, only clutch and gas. There are classes from 500, 250, 125 and 80 ccm.
The highest rank of competition is GRAND PRIX in which participate 16 riders. 10 races of Grand prix series give speedway world champion.

Speedway club „UNIA“  was founded in 2004 on initiative of Zvonko Pavlic, triple champion of former Yugoslavia. In 5 years, there were organized 23 races, from which the biggest was World championship U21 final, on October 3rd 2009. Winner was australian rider Darcy Ward. Club counts over 100 members, and 6 riders. There is also speedway club „Prelog“, which is working on stadium to bring speedway back to Prelog, and with he effort and enthusiasm of the speedway fans all over the country we hope that speedway centers like Crikvenica and Osijek will be live again.

Darija Pavlic, PR and race organization

Studies economics and management in Zagreb, owns FIM licence for speedway Referee and Race director. Works in speedway since 2001 when Jurica started his career where she helped him with agreements about races and signing contracts with clubs. In club she is in charge of public relations and media, organization of races, contacts with suppliers, riders and clubs, organization of training in pre-season.

Sandra Percač, marketing and race organization

Works in community of Donji Kraljevec as director of Rudolf Steiner centre. In HMS she has function director for speedway, and is in charge of coordination of state championship races, making race calendars, starting licences for riders, applications for races. She does marketing in club and relations with sponsors and business partners. Also has FIM licence for Race director.

Dejan Dolenec, stadium maintenance

He is in charge of technical part about track maintenance and whole stadium. Lawn mowing, stadium cleaning, maintenance of pits during training, placing billboards etc. are some of his jobs.

Of course, during season there can be changes, but they are all doing great job. Races wouldn't be organized so successfully like they are now. Thank you all!

SPEEDWAY STADIUM MILENIUM

Speedway stadium „Milenium“ was built in 2005 exclusively for organization of speedway races. Capacity of stadium is 5000 sitting places; In 2010. on both bends will be built  grandstands for 10 000 spectators. Lenght of  track is 305 m measured 1 m from interior edge,
inside which is little track intended for riders from 12-16 years in 80 ccm. There is air fence in lenght of 120 meters, which contributes to safety of riders on track, ease consequences of falls, and allows riders great racing  without fear of injuries.

Pits (place for driver during race) are covered in structure of grandstands, and provide unobstructed view on activities of riders in pit stall during the race, allows drivers maximum comfort, from wc and showers with warm water, big parking lot for vans and car camp, and special space for washing motorcycles.

Stadium is placed in Međimurje in Donji Kraljevec, 20 km away from Čakovec, owns FIM licence, and by many it is one of the best speedway stadiums in Europe, which provides and owns all elements needed for organization of quality and highly ranked races (FIM and UEM championships).

Except for riders, stadium is adapted for spectators, and beside interesting racing and atmosphere during the race, provides feeling of staying in nature. There has also built VIP saloon on the entrance of stadium, which is intended for organization of VIP banquet after the race, for sponsors, drivers and personnel of the race. The saloon has area of 700m2, with kitchen and bar, rooms for meetings of international jury, also adapted for banquets, dinners, celebrations and similar events.

The stadium is very easy to find; exit „Goričan“ from highway  A4 Zagreb – Goričan, or state road D20, Čakovec – Prelog – Donji Kraljevec – Goričan. Away only one hour of highway ride, 110 km from capital city Zagreb. On boundary of Croatia, Slovenia and Hungary, the distance from border with Hungary is only 8 km, and with Slovenia 30 km.
